Eight Mile got its name the simple way — it’s eight miles up St. Stephens Road from downtown Mobile. No city council, no mayor, no municipal taxes. Just a spread-out community of folks who like having space, keeping costs reasonable, and not being told what to do with their property. We respect that. When we come out to Eight Mile, we don’t show up with a sales pitch. We show up with a truck, clean your stuff, and leave it looking better than we found it.

The thing about Eight Mile is the tree cover. Once you get off St. Stephens Road and into the neighborhoods — back toward Chickasaw Creek, up past the churches and the schools — you’re under a canopy of pine and hardwood that keeps everything shaded and damp. That’s great for keeping cool in August, but it means your roof, siding, and concrete stay wet longer after rain. Wet surfaces grow things. Green things. Black things. The kind of stuff that makes your house look ten years older than it is.

That’s iron in the water. Regular pressure washing won’t remove it — it needs an acid-based treatment to dissolve the iron deposits.
