Red clay, pine pollen, and well water stains — we handle what Semmes throws at your home.
Semmes sits in that sweet spot between country and city. You’ve got space out here — half-acre lots minimum, many of them full acres or more. Big Creek Lake is right there for fishing. Heritage Park gives the kids somewhere to play. The schools are good. And you’re still only twenty minutes from anything you need in Mobile. It’s why people move here. But that space and those trees come with a tradeoff: your home’s exterior takes a beating that city homes don’t.
Drive down Howells Ferry Road toward Big Creek Lake and look at the homes set back in the trees. Beautiful properties — but the pine canopy keeps them in shade most of the day. That shade means surfaces stay wet after rain, morning dew lingers until noon, and algae has a permanent invitation to grow on your roof, siding, and walkways. Add in the red clay that gets tracked and splashed onto everything after a good rain, and the well water that leaves orange stains around your spigots and on your driveway — and you’ve got a home that needs professional cleaning at least once a year.
Three things make Semmes different from cleaning homes in town: well water, red clay, and septic systems. The well water out here has iron in it — that’s what causes the orange staining on your concrete, around your hose bibs, and anywhere water sits or drips regularly. Regular pressure washing just moves the stain around. We use an oxalic acid treatment that actually dissolves the iron deposits and removes the discoloration completely.
The red clay is everywhere after it rains. It splashes up onto your foundation, your garage door, your lower siding, and your fence posts. Once it dries, it bonds to the surface and won’t come off with a hose. We pre-treat clay stains before pressure washing to break the bond, then flush it away cleanly. The key is getting to it before it’s been baked on by months of sun.
Septic systems matter because we need to be careful about where our runoff goes and what chemicals we use. All of our cleaning solutions are biodegradable and septic-safe. We’re conscious of drain fields and we direct our rinse water away from septic components. A lot of companies don’t even think about this — but in Semmes, it matters.
We offer the full range of exterior cleaning services — everything your home needs to look its best and stay protected from Semme’s climate:
We cover all of Semmes — from the properties along Howells Ferry Road near Big Creek Lake, to the neighborhoods off Wulff Road, the homes near Heritage Park and Mary G. Montgomery High School, the developments along Snow Road, and the larger acreage properties toward the Lott Road area. Long driveways don’t scare us — we bring enough hose to reach.
